Dry, damaged lips? Let’s fix that!
Most of us have a skincare routine that we follow religiously to take care for our skin and keep it healthy and young. Our skin care regime is filled with lots of serums, creams, night cream, eye cream, neck cream, mask and stuff like that. But most often we forget a very import part of our face, our lips! They help you speak, eat, whistle & kiss; yes it’s your lips! So do you treat them right?
Your lips are delicate, sensitive and thin-skinned. Lips get dry all the time; in fact, they were practically made for it. They lack the oil and sweat glands that are two of the main moisture providers and retainers in ordinary skin. Keeping them soft and smooth may seem like a constant battle, but with a little care, your lips can be perfect in no time. Just follow these simple steps — and then pucker up! :*
- Drink Water:
The first sign of dehydration is often reflected on your lips. Make sure you drink at-least 8 glasses of water every day. Hydrating from the inside will help keep your lips from getting dry & damaged outside.
- Don’t lick your lips:
When lips feel dry, we lick them to add some moisture which makes them feel temporarily better. However, if you continue doing it, you’ll be making matters worse. Licking your lips continuously will remove any natural oils you have on your lips, which can dry out the lips. It has the same drying effect as constantly washing your hands; the repeated exposure to water actually robs moisture from the skin, causing it to become dry. .
- Use A Lip Balm:
Stop licking and instead start using a lip balm. Lips does not have a protective layer and hence get damages really easily. Lip balm helps to seal in moisture, promote healing and and also act a protective layer for your lips. There are a lot of options available in the market however go for the one you’ll use often. My personal favorite is Nivea Fruity Range which includes some amazing options and also keeps with my lips soft & smooth with a hint of color.
- Exfoliate:
Exfoliating basically means removing the upper dear layer of your skin. It helps in getting rid of flaky lips and also improves the blood circulation promoting healthy lips. To exfoliate your lips, you can simply use a soft toothbrush or make a homemade scrub using sugar & honey.
- Protect:
You don’t just need an SPF for your face but for your lips too. Unlike your skin, your lips lack melanin pigment that helps protect you skin from the sun. The sun’s ultraviolet rays can damage and dry the sensitive skin on your lips in the same way they can harm the skin on other parts of your body. Hence, make sure to apply a SPF product like Nivea Med Protect which contains a SPF of 15 to protect from the unforgiving sun.
We hope you found these tips helpful to keep your pout pretty and plump!
NO NEED TO MENTION ANY OTHER NIVEA PRODUCT. JUST FOCUS ON THE FRUITY RANGE OF NIVEA PRODUCTS.
